Tax Extension Filing

Secure checkout via Stripe. Prepared by an Enrolled Agent. Final scope confirmed in writing before any work begins.
In short: For accepted engagements, we e-file federal tax extensions once the required information is complete: Form 4868 for individuals or Form 7004 for businesses, with electronic confirmation of IRS acceptance. It is for anyone who needs more time to file. Keep in mind that an extension extends your filing deadline, not your payment deadline.

More Time for an Accurate Return
A return prepared in a rush can contain errors or miss deductions. An extension gives you time to gather your documents, receive late-arriving K-1s, and complete the return carefully.
Filing an extension is straightforward and perfectly normal. Scope and timing are confirmed in writing before an engagement begins, and once we e-file it, the IRS generally sends its acceptance within 24-48 hours.
Important: Extension to File ≠ Extension to Pay
An extension gives you more time to file your return, but it does not extend the deadline to pay taxes owed. If you expect to owe, estimate and pay with the extension to avoid interest and penalties.
Tax Extension
- Form 4868 (individual) or Form 7004 (business)
- E-filed by an Enrolled Agent
- Electronic confirmation receipt
- Extends deadline by 6 months
- Routine filing, not an audit trigger by itself
How It Works
For accepted engagements, filing follows two steps once the required information is complete.
Purchase & Confirm Details
Complete your purchase and confirm your filing type (individual or business), entity details, and any estimated tax payment amount.
We E-File Your Extension
Once your purchase and required details are complete, we prepare and e-file your extension with the IRS. You receive an electronic confirmation receipt as proof of timely filing.
Key Deadlines
Extensions must be filed by the original due date. Here are the dates that matter.
Individual Returns
Original deadline: April 15. Extended deadline: October 15. Form 4868 gives you an automatic 6-month extension.
Partnerships & S Corps
Original deadline: March 15. Extended deadline: September 15. Form 7004 provides an automatic 6-month extension.
C Corporations
Original deadline: April 15. Extended deadline: October 15. Also uses Form 7004 for the automatic extension.
Estimated Payments
Extension or not, quarterly estimated tax payments are still due on their regular schedule (Apr 15, Jun 15, Sep 15, Jan 15).
State Extensions
Most states follow federal extension rules automatically. Some states require a separate state extension filing.
Late Filing Penalty
Without an extension: 5% of unpaid tax per month (up to 25%). With an extension: no late-filing penalty even if you owe.
