How Pricing Works

  • • An engagement fee secures your start date and is applied in full toward your final invoice
  • • Complexity, record condition, and scope are the main factors that affect your total

Penalty figures are statutory amounts under current law; actual assessments depend on your facts and IRS inflation adjustments. All international engagements include a written scope and a fixed fee. Streamlined filings include a non-willfulness statement drafted by an Enrolled Agent, not a template: volume providers do not write it, and the tax attorneys who do typically charge $5,000 and up.

Billing & Payment

How Billing Works

Every engagement is fixed-fee and agreed in writing before work begins. No hourly surprises.

When do I pay?

You sign the engagement letter and pay a deposit ($250 to $750 by scope) to reserve your start date. The deposit is credited in full to your final invoice, not an extra charge on top of the quoted price. For returns, the balance is due before we e-file.

How are monthly services billed?

Bookkeeping and retainer plans auto-charge in advance on the 1st, to a card or bank account (ACH) on file. Paying annually up front earns a 10% discount.

What happens if a balance is late?

Balances are due on the terms in your engagement letter. Past-due balances accrue 1.5% per month (18% per year) after 15 days.

Do discounts stack?

No. When more than one promotional discount applies (referral, early-filing, or annual prepay), only the single largest one is honored. Discounts do not combine.

Is there a rush fee?

Yes, when a deadline is tight. Documents received after March 15 (individuals) or February 15 (entities) carry a 15% rush surcharge on the return fee for the first two weeks past that date, and 25% after that, collected with the deposit, to prioritize your return for on-time filing. Otherwise we file an extension at no charge for signed engagements.

Do you ever charge a percentage of my refund?

Never. We do not charge percentage or contingent fees. Treasury Circular 230 prohibits them for return preparation, and flat fees are how you know our only incentive is getting it right.

Pricing Factors

What Affects Pricing

Two main factors determine your final fee: the complexity of your tax situation (number of income sources, states, and entity structure) and the condition of your existing records (document organization, completeness, and prior-year issues).

Complexity Factors

  • • Number of income sources
  • • Multiple states involved
  • • Investment and rental activity
  • • Business entity structure

Record Condition

  • • Organization of documents
  • • Completeness of records
  • • Prior year issues
  • • Accounting system status

How Engagements Work

Every engagement follows a four-step process: you book a call or submit an intake form, we provide a written scope and quote within one to two business days, you pay and upload documents through our secure portal, and an Enrolled Agent prepares and reviews your deliverables.
